Roman Gladiator Costume

There were different types of gladiators who specialized in different weapons and tended to be paired off with an opponent who also fought with similar equipment. For example, the Thracians wore broad-rimmed helmets that enclosed the whole head and carried a 
small shield and sword. The Gladiator Child Costume and Gladiator Fighter costume look similar to what the Thracians would wear.
It seemed that Roman women loved Gladiators as they were seen as rather heroic. The Roman Hunk costume shown on the left will certainly get any woman’s heart racing. Even though most gladiators wore armor of some sort, some gladiators wore very little armor as depicted in this costume. Apparently the gladiators who wore very little armor had leather arm pieces, leg pieces and a shield.
Even though most gladiators were men, a female gladiator is called a gladiatrix. She was an armed fighter who would engage in violent combat with humans or animals for the entertainment of audiences.
